How Recap collects, uses, stores, and protects account, repository, billing, and product usage information.

Effective date: September 29, 2026

Information we collect

We collect the information you provide when creating an account, including your name, email address, authentication details, and plan preferences.

When you connect GitHub, we receive the repository access you authorize, including pull request metadata, changed file details, diffs, webhook payloads, and repository identifiers needed to generate changelog entries.

We also collect product usage, billing, support, device, log, and security information so the service can operate reliably and protect accounts.

How we use information

We use information to provide Recap, generate and display changelog entries, process authentication, manage subscriptions and credits, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and improve the product.

We do not sell your personal information. We only share information with service providers who help us operate Recap, comply with law, protect rights and security, or complete a business transfer.

Repository data

Repository data is used to summarize merged pull requests and maintain your application history. GitHub tokens are stored encrypted and are used only for the actions you authorize.

Webhook payloads are verified before processing. Failed verification requests are rejected.

Retention and choices

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

You may disconnect repositories, update your account information, or request deletion of your account and associated data. Some records may be retained where required for security, billing, or legal compliance.

Security and contact

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted token storage and account security controls such as passkeys and two-factor authentication.
